Gelato 41 Crossed With Sherbert BX1

Jealousy is a Seed Junky Genetics cross of Gelato 41 and Sherbert BX1. It reached the market in 2019 through The Minntz, a collaboration between Cookies and Seed Junky, and took Leafly's Strain of the Year for 2022.

The BX1 again signals a backcross rather than a straight cut, so one parent was stabilised before the final pairing. Sherbert sits in this family tree twice over, as both parent and, through Gelato, grandparent.

What the Award Actually Recognised

Leafly's citation was about market impact rather than any measured quality. Worth knowing when the award is used as a selling point: it marks how far the strain travelled, not how it tested.

It is also the second time a Gelato descendant has taken that award, which says more about the Gelato line's reach than about this cross specifically.

Potency

The published range is wide. One guide gives an average of 18% while noting tested plants in the high twenties. Leafly says it can test into the high 20s without giving a typical figure.

An 18% average with a high-20s ceiling is a big spread, and it points at phenotype variation rather than at one number being wrong. What you actually get depends on the cut.

Indica or Sativa

Sources lean different ways. Pax puts it around 60% indica and 40% sativa while calling it broadly balanced. Leafly's reviewers describe something more specific and more useful: mentally relaxed but physically energetic, which is not what either label predicts.

Terpenes

Leafly gives caryophyllene as dominant, with limonene and myrcene behind it. A caryophyllene-led dessert strain is slightly unusual, and it fits the peppery edge under the sweetness rather than the pure candy profile the name suggests.
