Shatter
Shatter is the concentrate that looks like amber glass: a hard, translucent sheet named for the way it breaks, and one of the most potent things in the shop. Below: what shatter is, how it is made, how it differs from wax and budder, and what it costs at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Edibles
Edibles are cannabis you eat or drink: gummies, chocolates, baked goods, candies and drinks. They are discreet, smoke-free and long-lasting, and they are also the easiest way to take far more than you meant to. Below: how edibles work, how long they take, what the strength on the label means, and what they cost per 100mg of THC at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Hash
Hash is one of the oldest forms of cannabis concentrate, with a history spanning thousands of years: the resin glands of the plant, gathered up and pressed into a block, a ball or strips. It is stronger than flower by weight and smells richer and earthier. Below: what hash is, how each kind is made, and what it costs per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Budder
Budder is shatter that was never allowed to harden: the same extract, whipped while it sets until it turns soft and creamy. Below: what budder is, how it differs from badder, wax and shatter, and what it costs per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
THCa Diamonds
THCa diamonds are cannabis at its most refined: crystals of nearly pure cannabinoid that form when live resin is left to rest. Below: what diamonds are, how they form, and what they cost per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Live Resin
Live resin is the concentrate made for flavour. Instead of drying the plant first, producers freeze it the moment it is harvested, so the terpenes that give each strain its smell survive into the jar. Below: what live resin is, how it is made, how it compares with shatter, rosin and cured resin, and what it costs per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Kief
Kief is the plant's resin glands, sifted off the flower as a fine powder. No solvent, no press, nothing added. It is what hash is made from. Below: what kief is, how it is collected, and what it costs per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Vapes
A cannabis vape heats concentrate into vapour instead of burning it: no lighter, no smoke, and a pen that fits in a pocket. Disposables, 510 carts and multi-chamber pens all work the same way inside. Below: how vapes work, the kinds you will see, what is in them, and what they cost per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Concentrates
Concentrates are cannabis with the plant taken away: the cannabinoids and terpenes, pulled out and gathered into something far stronger than flower. Hash, kief, shatter, budder, live resin, diamonds and distillate are all concentrates, made different ways and sold in different textures. Below: what each one is, how they are made, and what they cost per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Tinctures
A tincture is cannabis in a dropper bottle: extract dissolved in a neutral oil, taken under the tongue or added to food. It lets you measure each dose precisely, and it is smoke-free and usually odourless. Below: how tinctures are made and taken, how to work out a dose, and what they cost per 100mg at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Topicals
Topicals are cannabis for the skin: balms, lotions, salves, bath salts, bath bombs and patches. They work where you put them, and most will not get you high, even with THC in them. Below: how topicals work, the kinds you will find, what the research says so far, and what they cost at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
CBD
CBD is the cannabinoid that does not get you high. It comes in flower, edibles, oils, capsules and topicals. Below: what CBD is, how it differs from THC, what the research does and does not show, and what it costs per 100mg at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Psilocybin
Magic mushrooms contain psilocybin and psilocin, hallucinogens that change how people see, hear and feel for several hours. They are sold online in Canada as dried mushrooms, chocolates, gummies, teas and microdose capsules, but they are not legal to sell or buy. Below: the law, what psilocybin does, the risks, and what the shops we track are charging.
Distillate
THC distillate is cannabis oil refined until almost nothing is left but the cannabinoid. It is the cheapest potency per dollar on the market, which is why it fills most vape carts and most edibles. Below: what it is, how it is made, and what it actually costs per gram at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
Terp Sauce
Terp sauce is the flavour half of a live resin jar: the syrupy, terpene-rich liquid that rises to the top while the crystals settle below. Listings often call it HTFSE. Below: what terp sauce is, how it forms, and what it costs at the Canadian online dispensaries we track.
